Quarantine Film Fest AWARDS!!!
Updated: 4 days ago
400 submissions from 25 countries... To say I am shocked and overwhelmed by all these awards would be an understatement!! I truly did not imagine I would win ANYTHING...so to hear Pilgrim announced as a winner over and over during The Quarantine Film Fest awards ceremony was such a thrilling experience!!
After working on more than 50 films for other people, I finally made my own. It was surreal and rewarding enough by itself to bring my story to life, but to see it honored like this?? I'm still reeling! I couldn't have done this without my co-director/DP/editor Woody Watts, actor/script consultant Jeremy Sumpman, and my future sister-in-law Rebekah who was a huge help with props! They all jumped right in to make the magic happen!
And I couldn't have done it without everybody who got on the app and voted!!! To everyone who did - thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time and effort to do that! Another big THANK YOU to Nathan Blair, Laura Mae, Brian Jagger, and all the sponsors and judges who made The Quarantine Film Fest a reality!
(Behind-the-scenes self-portrait I took after we were done filming.)
If you're wondering what some of those awards mean, here you go:
Break Free Award = coolest concept
Out of Nowhere Award = something unexpected happens
Gas Mask Award = best use of quarantine theme
Social Distancing Award = best use of others
Quarantine Awesomeness Award = overall awesomeness!
(Note: we tied for first place for the gas mask award, and tied for second place for the social distancing award.)
If you haven't seen the film yet, or you want to watch it again, here you go!
Did I mention we shot this film in under 3 hours? Normally it would take a very full day (or more) to shoot a 10 minute film, but we only had 3 hours so we made it happen! I had a great team!! Due to the time pressure, we stayed focused and didn't goof around as much as could have, but we still ended up with some fun bloopers! Watch below...
